Wellbeing

Just like you, we want the children in our care to be happy and to view and experience school as a safe space filled with discovery, opportunity and positive challenge. We firmly believe that happy students learn better, engaging in a more meaningful way, and thereby get the most out of their school experience. Which is why ensuring the all-round wellbeing and mental health of our pupils is one of our top priorities.

At GEMS, all students have access to trained professional counsellors who provide a range of support. Every school also has a designated Child Safeguarding Lead, supported centrally by the GEMS-wide Safeguarding Team.

  • GIS has installed Safe space corners around the school in corridors and classrooms

    This is to promote social emotional wellbeing and positive mental health.
    Safe Space corners are designed within the school where students can go to feel safe, calm, and supported when they are feeling overwhelmed or experiencing stress. These corners are designed to provide a sense of comfort and security, and are typically equipped with sensory materials, calming activities, and resources for emotional support.
    By offering safe space corners, a school demonstrates a commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of its students, and provides them with a safe and nurturing environment in which to learn and grow. This approach acknowledges that emotional support is just as important as academic learning, and helps to create a more inclusive and supportive school community.
